Why are we launching Aptible AI?
The best incident response is no response.
When you invest time and resources into your incident response processes, the ultimate goal should be to automate resolution for every possible alert. Sure, that’s easier said than done… but with Aptible AI, we expect it to be not only possible but simple.
Why Aptible?
Aptible’s incident response experience is uniquely reflective of so many companies out there. Because we provide a managed platform that addresses the critical reliability concerns of all our customers, we’ve felt the pain of a huge variety of incident response scenarios from both small and large organizations.
Our customer reliability engineers (CREs) respond to PagerDuty alerts that they’ve never seen before; they have to spend precious time looking up information that’s specific to the customer; they often have to pull in other members of the team for assistance when the answer is unclear. Sound familiar?
We started to build Aptible AI first and foremost to help with our own processes. Now we’re developing it further so that other organizations can trim the fat from their incident response processes with the ultimate goal of having no response at all.
What is Aptible AI?
By integrating into existing workflows and tools, Aptible AI can automate repetitive tasks like searching for (and through) runbooks, combing through logs, cross-referencing logs with metrics, and executing custom scripts with internal tools to find correlations.
Over time, that assistance will become smarter and smarter. The Agent learns to compile trends into a comprehensive playbook, keeping runbooks up-to-date when you ask it to, and giving you smarter suggestions and responses as it understands your infrastructure better.
From there, you can prioritize effort and ultimately eliminate ad hoc fixes by drilling down into common incidents and time sinks from one incident dashboard.
Unlike other incident response tools, Aptible AI is designed to fit into your unique processes and workflows. Its purpose is to provide a helping hand rather than automate your entire workflow. Here’s how:

The Aptible AI vision
Believe it or not, we want to put Aptible AI out of business. Use it to help you automate away all your incident response processes, then give your on-call team a rest.
But, of course, we understand that’s a lofty goal. In the interim, Aptible AI is meant to make incident response as seamless as possible and to remove the messiness and stress that each on-call engineer has to deal with daily. By removing tedious manual tasks like searching and correlating information, providing ongoing incident summaries to stakeholders, and suggesting next steps during an incident, Aptible AI can immediately start providing value to your team.
How you can help
We’ve already been working with dozens of design partners to help our Aptible AI vision come to fruition, and we’re looking forward to a public product launch later this year. However, we still need your help to inform our roadmap decisions and priorities — if your organization has a large engineering team that regularly deals with complex and messy incident response problems, then we want to talk! We want to know what initiatives you’re working on, how Aptible AI would fit into your workflow, and how to best design the Agent to fit your most common use cases.
Sign up for early access below, and we’ll be in touch shortly after to set up a time to meet! Until then, keep an eye on our changelog to stay up-to-date with our progress on Aptible AI.
